Soy: WHL Player Of The Week

Victoria, BC- The Western Hockey League (WHL) today announced that Victoria Royals’ forward Tyler Soy has been named the WHL Player of the week.

Soy, a product of Cloverdale, BC recorded nine points (5g-4a) in the Royals’ final three games of the regular season.

The 5-11, 172 lb forward becomes the sixth player (Alex Forsberg – 2015-16, Brandon Magee – 2014-15, Travis Brown - 2014-15, Joe Hicketts - 2014-15 and Alex Gogolev - 2012-2013) in Victoria Royals’ team history to receive the WHL Player of the Week award.

The 1997-born centre is in his third full season with the club. In 72 games with Victoria, Soy finished second in team scoring with 85 points (46g-39a). Soy led the team in goals with 46 and broke the Royals’ record for most markers in a single season.

In 213 career regular season games with Victoria (2013-2016), Soy has recorded 90 goals and 90 assists.
