It’s a battle of two clubs who earned ‘Honourable Mention’ for the CHL Top 10 last week.
The Royals have one more point than the Hitmen in the overall standings, and both clubs sit 3rd in their respective Conferences.
It’s the first meeting of the season, as last year the Hitmen took a 2-1 advantage after winning twice in Calgary, while Victoria earned their victory at home.
Victoria is coming off a 3-2 overtime victory against Vancouver on Saturday after falling 5-4 in a shoot out against them the night before. They’re looking for points in 6 straight (4-0-0-1).

One night after setting the Hitmen franchise record for most career regular season saves; Chris Driedger etched his name in the record books again becoming only the 6th goalie in WHL history, the first in club history, to score a goal as the Ice scored an own goal.
The Hitmen have just 3 wins in their past 10 outings, after putting together a 7 game winning streak.
The Royals have 7 wins in their past 10 games, and are 1 victory away from tying the franchise record for wins in a season with 35.
The Hitmen have scored 30 more goals overall than the Royals, however Victoria has given up 19 fewer goals.
Calgary owns the the 5th best power play and 3rd best penalty kill in the league. Victoria is 5th most efficient when short handed, while allowing the fewest goals against on average per game in the league.
The Royals are 8 games over .500 at home, while the Hitmen are only 1 game over the .500 mark on the road, as they are 17 over at home.
Calgary was busy at the trade deadline, adding forward Adam Tambellini in a trade for his rights with Portland, Conner Rankin from Tri City, Micheal Zipp from Everett with Zane Jones heading the other way. Earlier they added Mike Winther from Prince Albert.

Calgary is on a 5 game road trip and will also make stops in Vancouver (Feb. 7) and Kamloops (Feb. 8), before returning to the Scotiabank Saddledome on Tuesday, Feb. 11 for a tilt against the Prince Albert Raiders.
The two game set will wrap up Victoria’s 4 game home stand and will head out for 3 games this long weekend in Kamloops, Kelowna and Vancouver at 2pm on Monday.
