Preview: Victoria at Prince George, Friday Nov 30th

The Victoria Royals (13-12-0-1, 27pts) are on the road to face the Prince George Cougars (9-12-1-3, 22pts) in the first of back to back games, beginning Friday night.

It’s the 3rd of 8 season meetings, as the Royals earned a split against the Cougars a week ago with a 3-2 victory after falling 5-4 the night before.  It’ll be their 3rd and 4th meetings in 5 games.

Last season the Royals took 6 of 8 encouters against their BC Division rivals, winning all 4 on the road while splitting the double headers at home.

Victoria is 6th in the Conference with 27 points, 2 more that Seattle and 5 up on Prince George, who’s tied for 8th with Everett.

The Royals are coming off a 4-3 shoot out loss to the Warriors Tuesday, wrapping up a 6 game home stand with a 3-2-0-1 record.  They have a (4-8) road record this season.

The Cougars haven’t played since settling for the split on the Island last weekend, and open a 3 game home stand.  Prince George is 1 under .500 at home with a (5-6-1-0) record.  5 of their last 6 contests have been one goal games (2-1-0-2).

Victoria forward Alex Gogolev is on a 10 game point streak (4g 7a) and leads the team in points with (30).  Logan Nelson has pushed his streak to 7 games (3g 7a) and is the team leader in assists (20).  Jamie Crooks has now played 250 career games and is 1 goal away from tying Kevin Sundher (90) for 2nd in Royals / Bruins history for goals scored.

Prince George is led in scoring by Colin Jacobs, who leads the club in goals (10), assists (13) and points (23).

The Royals will face the Cougars again Saturday before returning home to face the Giants on Wednesday December 5th.
